Volunteer to be a Mentor to underserved kids (multiple Shifts available)
The Muindi Foundation invites you to volunteer to be a Mentor to under-served kids grades 1st - 5th grades.
Children experiencing homelessness or extreme poverty often lack the support and resources needed to excel in school. A national study released in 2021 shows that students who do not read proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to leave high school without a diploma than proficient readers. If a child is not a proficient reader when they begin fourth grade, as much as half of the curriculum they will be taught will be incomprehensible.
With this in mind, our tutoring and mentorship programs are free for qualified elementary aged children and focus on building competencies in reading, writing and math. Our programs support academic success during the school year, prevent summer learning loss, and provide basic need support services such as healthy food and safe supervision. Above all else, our students receive personal mentorship from adults who care about their success and are empowered to have a motivated and positive mindset.
